After the announcement of the Nissan Sentra Cup of the arrival of Freddie Hunt in his GP3R series, after the announcement of the return of Jacques Villeneuve (brother of Gilles) for a final career race, in the Modified Legends series, Festidrag Development is today announced the title sponsors of the NASCAR Pinty’s series race that will take place during the 52nd Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (the event will bear the name of the Rousseau Metal 60 laps) in addition to the return to the event of Jacques Villeneuve (Gilles’ son this time), exactly 30 years after its debut on the Trois-Rivières route.
Hunt on one side, two Villeneuves on the other: three very different drivers, three series on track at the next GP3R, which promises to be very exciting. Monday’s press conference also revealed the livery of car No. 07 in the colors of Prolon Controls and prepared by the Dumoulin Competition team, which will drive the Formula 1 World Champion in 1997.
The NASCAR Pinty race will bear the name and colors of a valued partner of Festidrag development: Rousseau Métal. The company will gift a special edition “Jacques Villeneuve – 30 years of history” “wax box” including Silverwax products to the three drivers who will be on the podium at the end of NASCAR Pinty’s race on Sunday, August 7. “We are pleased to support the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières by becoming the title sponsor of the prestigious NASCAR Pinty’s series. As a Quebec company, we are delighted to be involved in North American motorsport, but especially local events. Good luck to all registered drivers for the Rousseau Metal 60 laps! said Mélissa Barrette, marketing coordinator at Rousseau Métal, pictured above with Marc Bergeron, Martin D’Anjou, Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin (left to right).
Jacques Villeneuve was not present at the press conference. From his hometown in Europe, he stepped in to comment on this return, 30 years after his very first presence at the event. It was then in Formula Atlantic and that marked the beginning of the great adventure with Player’s! “I enthusiastically accepted the invitation of Martin D’Anjou from Festidrag Development to participate in the GP3R. While attending the Daytona 500 last winter, I had the pleasure of meeting Martin, who was a great help with logistics. When he offered to ride in the colors of Festidrag Développement and his partners, I rushed to accept. My last race at Trois-Rivières was a few years ago and I can’t wait to come back and meet the NASCAR and motorsport fans,” said Jacques.
Jacques Villeneuve has now given up driving in the European NASCAR series to devote himself full-time to his role as an analyst of the Formula 1 Grands Prix for the French network Canal + and will therefore for the first time since last February, when he participated in the Daytona 500 and finished 22nd.
“Jacques Villeneuve’s visits to North America never go unnoticed. It is with pleasure and great pride that the development of Festidrag supports Jacques Villeneuve’s stay on Canadian soil, as well as all the marketing activations related to the arrival of the F1 champion. All eyes of Canadian motorsport journalists will be on Trois-Rivières the first weekend of next August, as they did for the Daytona 500 last February,” said Martin D’Anjou. He adds: “I would like to personally thank all the partners who have joined the adventure. Thanks to them, NASCAR fans can watch one of Canada’s greatest drivers at work. I would also like to emphasize the involvement of Dominic Fugère, General Manager of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, and the Dumoulin Competition team in the preparation of the car. Finally, thanks to a partner, but above all a friend, Mr Marc Bergeron of Prolon Controls, main partner of Jacques Villeneuve’s car”.
“First of all I have to congratulate Martin D’Anjou and the team of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on the organisation. Prolon proudly contributes to the arrival of an experienced pilot. It is an exceptional opportunity to have an F1 world champion like Jacques Villeneuve drive a car in our colors. The company has been active in motorsport for several years. We sponsored Alex Labbé in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. My son, Jean-Philippe Bergeron, who works in the company, is also a driver in the NASCAR Pinty’s series. It will be interesting to see two cars with Prolon logos on the track! I wish you an exceptional Grand Prix and good luck to our drivers! mentioned Marc Bergeron.
Louis-Philippe and Jean-François Dumoulin also commented on joining their team. Louis-Philippe, teammate of Jacques Villeneuve at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in 2013, said at the press conference: “Jacques Villeneuve is one of the greats. No other Canadian driver has achieved what he has achieved in his career in terms of championships and wins. Growing up with the Villeneuve family’s exploits in motorsport, we are proud to welcome Jacques to our team, home, for the most important event of the NASCAR Pinty’s season. It will be a historic moment.”
“The team members are doing everything they can to prepare a high-performance car,” added Jean-François Dumoulin. “The mechanical team will be led by one of the best team leaders, Billy Burns, who has been working with Dumoulin Competition for several years. Jacques knows him well because he has also worked with him, notably in the NASCAR Euro series and, this year, in the Daytona 500,” conclude Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, co-owners of Dumoulin Competition.
For the development of Festidrag, the success of this project requires the involvement of no less than 21 partners, namely Prolon Controls, Rousseau Métal, Circuit Téléguidé Saint-Roch, JC Perreault Furniture and Household Appliances, Groupe Brière International, Lettra Pub, Groupe Olivier with its division Shelby Canada, Permatex Canada, DL Performance, Moto Illimitées, DLGL, Festidrag.tv, MR Dry Wall, CHOI Radio X, CPS Silkscreen, Remorquage Auclair, Mécanique 360 Garage Xavier Huberdeau, Top Supports, Silverwax, the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières and Dumoulin competition.
