“The difference with boys is that if there is no content, if there is no real perspective on the whole season, they leave. They rightly want us means the same as boys and that’s really what we’ve been trying to do at the club since last year. Jacques Canosi, driving force behind the development of women’s football in Champagnole

From professional player, especially at RC Strasbourg, to recruiter, via coach, Jacques Canosi has touched almost everything in the football world. After 5 years as technical director of an academy in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Jacques Canosi is now technical manager of FC Champagnole since 2020. Unable to carry out his project in Africa, he set himself the target of the women’s division of Champagnole.
Currently in the process of obtaining a DES (certificate of specialized studies), on the occasion of passing this exam, he supported a project for the opening of the sportswomen’s department at the college of Louataux and with that of Joan of Arc in Champagnole . If the opinions of the institutions are favourable, it will take a very long time to set up the project, especially with the Joan of Arc college, satisfied because it is a public institution and thus dependent on the Academy of Besançon. The idea would be to allow girls who really want to get involved in football to benefit from an arrangement that would allow them to train for 3 hours during school time. “The advantage is that instead of one training they go to two. And so if we also do an extra session in the club, the girls can do three training sessions a week and be at the same pace as the boys,” he explains. This project is aimed at young girls from 6th to 3rd grade and could potentially interest as many as 12 to 15 players.
