After two years of pandemic, the return to tradition with the presentation of the event on the third Wednesday of May had a significant effect on the mobilization of cycling enthusiasts. The FQSC welcomes the attendance observed on Wednesday.
“Since two years we have seen a clear increase in enthusiasm for cycling and that is good news. Today’s participation demonstrates once again the necessity and relevance of organizing an event like the Tour du Silence,” said the FQSC president, Claude Pinard†
For the third year in a row, the well-known journalist, presenter and columnist in the media world, Yvan Martineauhas agreed to lend its voice as spokesperson for the 2022 edition of the Tour du Silence with the intention of raising awareness among as many users as possible of the importance of mutual respect on the road.
“Regardless of the mode of transport, we must be aware that we all have a role to play when it comes to safety on our roads. It is important to remember that pedestrians and cyclists are more vulnerable users, which means that it is our duty as citizens to be vigilant and careful when we encounter them. Bicycle safety is everyone’s business,” he said Yvan Martineau†

The school component was added to the traditional Tour du Silence, which, according to the organizers, was presented in different versions. For example, schools organized a mini-Tour and organized activities to make young people aware of the problem of road sharing (educational workshop on bicycle handling and safety rules, games of skill, police visits, etc.). With the development of the Embarquez program, an initiation to cycling program in primary schools in Quebec, the FQSC wants to focus more on this aspect in the coming years.
Quebec, within the movement
What is the contribution of? Beautiful Province until Ride of silence†
“Quebec is one of the original 50 Tours that brought the movement to life and inspired incredible growth around the world. Quebec has also preferred the appearance of other towers in the Canadaand even in other countries,” said the founder of the Ride of silence† Chris Phelan†
The SAAQ, a leading partner
The Société de l’assurance Automobile du Québec (SAAQ) once again joins the Tour du Silence as a leading partner to continue its efforts to raise public awareness of bicycle safety. The financial contribution from the SAAQ has enabled the FQSC to strengthen activities related to the promotion of the Tour du Silence and to better support local organizations that are deploying the event again this year in the different regions of Quebec.
The essential employees
The success of such an event is made possible thanks to the involvement of various actors, including the Sureté du Québec (SQ), the municipalities and their police forces, as well as the organizers, their partners and their volunteers. We would also like to thank the Minister of Transport and the Minister responsible for the Estrie region, Mr François Bonnardel, who acted as ambassador of the Tour at the provincial level. On behalf of the greater cycling community, we are deeply grateful and thank you for your involvement.
