Here’s a little look back at the past of the Saint Roman playground, thanks to Raymond Dutil. At the end of each season, the youngsters and the instructors were awarded various trophies and medals by the members of the recreation committee (1st photo).

The Club Lions Saint-Étienne-Saint-Nicolas-Saint-Rédempteur would like to thank Mécanique Auto DR for its $1,000 donation. A special mention to Lion Martin Gilbert and Lioness Lynda Cayouette (2nd photo) who are the initiators of this project are giving a $1 donation to their club for each of the invoices produced. In this time of pandemic, this gesture is doubly honorable.

Étiennette Dallaire’s 104th birthday was recently celebrated by her loved ones. Born on April 19, she is from Lac-à-la-Croix (now Hébertville) in Lac-Saint-Jean and has lived in the Quebec region for over 40 years. She survived the Spanish flu when she was born and just overcame COVID last April. Here are images from the party that took place at the Center d’accueil Saint-Joseph de Lévis, where she has lived since November last year (3rd photo). With the help of the CLSC, she was able to live in her apartment until she was 103.

The Cégep de Lévis announced the winners of the $1,000 admission scholarships offered by the Fondation du Cégep de Lévis. Secondary 5 students from our community, who have chosen to continue their university studies in the Lévis institution, were invited to submit their application by March 1. During the third fundraising evening A gift for 10 years of shared expertise, which was held on April 28, Bénévoles d’Expertise (BE) raised the amount of $ 83,436 (9th photo). This evening also marked the kick-off for the organization’s 10th anniversary.

As part of Mental Health Week, the Fondation Jeunes en Tête took stock of its 2021-2022 provincial tour, meeting more than 41,500 young people across Quebec. She is also proud to say that since October she has attended 13 schools in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, representing 3,124 students and 31 teachers. The Mental Health Base and Mental Health Solidarity workshops presented as part of this high school tour aim to promote positive mental health and prevent depression and anxiety.

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, the organization Vide ta sacoche prepared gift bags filled with sweets for 350 vulnerable mothers in Chaudière-Appalaches. Thanks to the generosity of its partners, donors and volunteers, more than $17,000 in product donations was distributed (10th photo). Carefully filled gift bags were offered to vulnerable young mothers. Older mothers living at the CHSLD in Lévis were also spoiled by the organization to celebrate this special day!

The Kodokan is the world training center for elite judo in Japan. Samuel Brochu, instructor of judo club Okano de Charny, was able to improve there. On this occasion, he was able to meet Harukuni Shimoyama (11th photo), fifth dan, and Yoshiharu Makishi (12th photo), sixth dan. Notably, the latter was a gold medalist in 1994 and 1996 at the International Canoe Cup Championships and a silver medalist at the 1997 World Championship.

The Lions Club Saint-Étienne-Saint-Nicolas-Saint-Rédempteur welcomed two new members, Nathalie Rousseau and Jean-Sébastien St-Pierre, on April 23.
