Gala recognition of socio-cultural and sports

Last Thursday, Cégep Beauce-Appalaches hosted the sociocultural and sporting recognition galas for all students involved in student life on the Saint-Georges campus.

Maude Tanguay and Jérémy Gosselin were voted Condors Athlete of the Year. In the socio-cultural field, Mathis Boudreau was named artistic personality of the year. Valérie Gaillardetz Rousseau received the Volunteer Personality of the Year award and Alexandre Pougny was named Discovered Personality of the Year.

Sport
Maude Tanguay distinguished himself during the Rugby 7s season by being a dominant player for the Condors. His efforts and achievements have also been recognized by the RSEQ. She was elected to the circuit’s all-star team. Maude was also nominated at the Beauceron Sports Merit Gala in the “junior non-disciplinary” category.

Jérémy Gosselin distinguished himself as a pass receiver with the football team by helping the Condors win the Bol d’Or. Not only has Jérémy been named in the team’s all-star team and student-athlete par excellence, but is also part of the volleyball team that distinguished itself by participating in the provincial championship at Ahuntsic College.

It should be noted that student athlete in basketball, rugby and volleyball, Anne-Marie Dallaire, was awarded the Ben Gravel Trophy for leadership and community involvement with the Condors organization. William Auger of the Leisure Committee won the Promutuel Insurance Commitment and Leadership Trophy.

Mathis Boudreau particularly stood out this year in the artistic scene of Cégep Beauce-Appalaches, including during his humorous number on last Wednesday Student and as captain of the improvisation team Les Pissenlits.

The voluntary personality, Valérie Gaillardetz Rousseau, very involved in the social committee, contributed to enriching the student life of the Cégep. Discovery of the year, Alexandre Pougny stood out thanks to his artistic talent. With his voice and his energy he provided solid musical performances during Wednesday-Students and he was involved in the theater group l’Épisode.

The Sociocultural awarded nine favorite prizes in various disciplines. They went to Stéphanie Faucher (social committee), Mirella Lepasteur (technical committee), Emmanuelle Sora (CER), Lukas Cormier (CDEE), Arianne Dansereau (AGE), Shanny Jolin-Vachon (dance), Anna Fecteau (theatre), Zoïk Bélanger (Wednesday student), and Stéphanie Faucher (improvisation). These favorite winners were chosen by their peers.

More than 150 students attended the evening to underline their commitment. Of these, athletes, artists and students were involved in the Sociology Committee, the Technical Committee, the Responsible Environment Committee, the Student Entrepreneurial Development Club, the General Student Association and the Recreation Committee. The Director of Studies and Student Life, Mr Jean-Philippe Vachon, addressed the students greeting their commitment to Cégep: “We want to emphasize the importance of your involvement in your academic success and we invite you to pursue your passions strive, even if you leave us to take on new challenges.”

Two musical performances completed the evening: a striking song presented during last Wednesday Student with Alexandre Pougny on vocals, Charles Bernard and Raphaël Talbot on electric guitar, Maxime Poulin on bass, Maeva Chaumarat on piano and Sacha Dubé on drums in the piece Freebird , followed by Beggin, an energetic performance provided by the voices of Pierre-Yves Grondin and Audrey Fortin, the bass of Raphaël Talbot and the drums of Sacha Dubé. To conclude the festivities, the guests were invited to join the dance floor in a performance by DJ RJ (Rémi Jacques).
